Ian’s Update August 2016

At the time of writing we are in the final planning stages of our to Belgium in July, where we have the great honour of playing at the Menin gate, the WW1 memorial at Ypres. The Band will play a series of concerts in the area and will visit the trenches which have been preserved in tribute. We shall report on this next month.

June saw the band performing at Kelling Heath Holiday Park on a couple of occasions with a further performance in July. Some of the band take caravans and tents and make a weekend of it!

We also played at a very muddy Hardingham Fete – these conditions always seem to come about the week after our uniforms have been dry cleaned!

Our next Taverham Village Hall concerts will be on 14th & 15th October and full details will be in next month’s edition with the planned programme! Tickets will be on sale from 1st August from Drayton Post Office, Abbotts Estate Agents and The Sweetbucket. On line tickets available here, or by calling 01603 868680.

You will read elsewhere in the newsletter that I was made an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. May I thank everyone involved in the nomination which was made 2 years ago and also to those who have sent messages of congratulations. Finally a big thanks to all those members of organisations I have been involved in over many years for their on-going support which without, this award would not have been possible.
