August saw the band take a couple of weeks breather but not before we had our final summer engagements.  Sadly our annual visit to Eaton Park had to be cancelled at the last minute after one of the summer deluges meant there was a 3m wide and foot deep moat around the bandstand which together with the electrical supply under water meant a hazardous combination.

Our final summer booking was at NORJAM, the Norfolk Scout Jamboree at the Royal Norfolk Showground.  The band performed for a couple of hours to several hundred of the 4000 participants, many of which came from all around the world.   As usual the perception of what lay in store when they saw ‘Brass Band’ on the entertainment schedule, was washed aside as they joined in a selection of ‘traditional’ (Ha!) brass band music ranging from Bill Hayley and Chubby Checker to Lady Gaga and ‘Gangnam Style!’
