Wow – what a great success our 50th anniversary concert was! A sell-out Playhouse theatre in Norwich of over 300 was achieved 2 months before the concert! A long hard day for all but a full standing ovation at the end of the concert made it all worthwhile. A big thanks to all the Band members, vocalists Ben and Ted Lake and Joe Meakin helping to make the event a great success.
And finally of course a big thanks to all the supporters who came along! Our programme included music from the films Titanic, Out of Africa and Gladiator and other pieces linked to 1974 including Abba’s Waterloo, Angels by Robbie Williams (also 50 this year!) and memorable pieces to the Band such as Sparkling Diamonds (played live on air for the Look East coverage of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Garden Party, amnd Hymn to the Fallen which the Band played at the Menin Gate Last Post Ceremony.
The concert also included the premiere of ‘Heart of Brass’ written by Band member Ian Hytch.
