Ian’s Update February 2023

A big thank you to everyone who supported the Band over the Christmas period. With a total of 18 different events, carol playing sessions and concerts everyone was kept busy. It was good to get back to the usual “festive frenzy” that we have missed over the past couple of years.

The Band performed concerts at Taverham Village Hall, St. Edmund’s Church and Wensum Valley Hotel, together with our early December trips to Mundesley Church, Weston Longville Church, and the Break carol service at St. John’s Cathedral in Norwich.

Smaller groups played carols at Taverham Nursery, The Bob Carter Centre, Oxborough Hall, 2 Co-Op stores in Norwich and Tesco in Drayton as well as Angel Road School!

As part of our efforts we collected money for the Taverham & District Foodbank and amazingly, nearly £2000 was collected from our carol-playing at Tesco and our bucket collections at the end of the Village Hall concerts. This, added to our bucket collections in October makes a total of £2600!

The Band had a well-earened rest after Christmas and returned to rehearsals in mid-January to have a good music sort-out and to introduce new music for our 2023 programmes. Our first concerts of the new season are detailed below, and our growing (and regularly-updated!) engagements list for 2023 can be viewed by clicking here.

Our Spring Concerts will be the first since 2019 and, as usual for that time of year, will include a wide variety of lovely music from shows, filoms, traditional and more.

Whilst costs have increased we are keeiping our prices the same, so why not come along foir a great local evening out for all the family!
