It was standing room only at Spixworth Village Hall on 18th April with an audience suitably armed with Union Jack flags and songsheets for a “Last Night of the Proms” concert including all the traditional ingredients of Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem. The preceding programme included an imaginative arrangement of Songs of the Great War, culminating in a rendition of the Last Post as a poignant reminder of the immense sacrifices that were made by so many; and a virtuoso trombone solo from Alex Utting whose technique and confidence continues to develop apace – in two year’s time he’ll even be eligible to vote!
The Band braced itself against a keen wind as it headed into the wilds of Suffolk to perform for cheering crowds at the Bungay Lions Classic Vehicle Rally & Country Fayre; and looking forward to June there is a busy programme including a prestigious appearance in the splendid surroundings of the Bishop’s Garden in Norwich in aid of Save the Children. We look forward to seeing many of you hopefully basking in the sunshine.
