Important update – Christmas Concerts – Taverham Village Hall – 17th and 18th December

The good news is that, as things currently stand, both Friday and Saturday concerts will be going ahead with reduced audience sizes and more space as already planned.

In the light of revised UK Government recommendations from 30th November, and unless an exemption can be shown, the only change is that a face covering will be required for all audience members on entry to the venue, and at all times during the performance unless consuming refreshments.

Entry is by ticket only – ticket and booking information can be found by clicking here

Ian’s Update November 2021

So as I compose this latest missive,  we are in the middle of diesel hunting – another spanner in the works of getting some sort of normality.  With several members travelling some distance to band rehearsals we just hope this disruption will soon pass…..Our October concerts will have taken place by the time you read this and I will report next month on that.  In the meantime we would like to welcome some new members to the Band – Elliott on Baritone, Emily on Tenor Horn, and Rebecca and Jess on Cornet.

Well Christmas is approaching and get your tickets for our village hall concerts now….any other events will be published in next months magazine..

There will a reduced audience size of around 2/3rds normal capacity so make sure you get your tickets now!  Please note that there are no tickets at local outlets and all bookings must be made as detailed below:

Ian’s Update September 2021

July saw the band make its first performance since December 2019 at Tesco in Drayton.  It was a great experience to be out playing again and bit by bit getting back towards normal.  Having been a ‘key worker’ at Tesco since March 2020 and recently finished it was good to see supporters and customers alike.  We would like to welcome Rebecca, John and Emily as new members to the band and more to follow!

We are planning a return for October with concerts on 15th and 16th October at the Taverham Village Hall.   We have updated our ticketing process and reduced the numbers in the hall so get your tickets now.   Read on for more details!

Ian’s Update August 2021

Taverham Band – Newsletter August 2021

Well as I write this in early July it is pleasing to report that the band have recommenced rehearsals for the past month and everyone getting their lips back in order and back to playing!  The other good news is that our youngsters have returned after a 15 month absence from the training band and with the exception of 1, all are back!

We have to have bell covers (glorified tights stretched over the instrument bell!) but hopefully these can be made obsolete soon – its difficult/nigh impossible to use a mute when these covers are used!

Over the end of July and August/September we have a few outdoor events booked in and it will be good to get back to a concert performance – our last being Christmas 2019!

If things all progress  as we hope that we hope to be able to return to the Taverham Village Hall in October (15th & 16th) for our Autumn concerts – details in next months edition…

Hope to see you all soon!

First post-lockdown concert Saturday 24th July 2021 (images and video)

Since COVID-19 restrictions began easing, the Band has been able to undertake some guidelines-compliant rehearsals again. These have been so successful that we arranged an impromptu “pop-up” outdoor performance at the Tesco Superstore, Drayton from 1pm to 3pm It was great to be playing to an audience again!!

(with apologies for the portrait video clips – these were originally on Facebook live which insists on that format!)

Ticket exchanges – Spring 2020 for Autumn 2021 Concerts

Featured

Tickets for our Autumn Concerts on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th October 2021 will be on public sale shortly.

In the meantime, any holders of tickets for our cancelled Spring 2020 concerts are invited to send them to us for exchange tickets for the October dates at no extra cost.

We have updated our ticketing arrangements and all tickets will now be provided via a new provider, Ticketsource. Replacement eTickets will be sent if you have an email address and access to a printer. If not, please indicate this on the form and enclose a stamped, addressed envelope and we’ll print replacement tickets for you.

A form is attached below for ticket exchange – please click the link to open, then print and send to us with your Spring 2020 tickets for exchange. If you don’t have access to a printer, please copy the information requested down by hand.

As ticket numbers are limited (we are going to operate with reduced audience sizes in October) time is limited – once October tickets are all sold we regret that exchanges will no longer be possible.

If you have tickets to exchange and can’t make the October dates, we’ll make the same offer for a final time for our Christmas concert dates – this will happen nearer the time and before tickets go on general sale.

Community at Heart Lottery

Featured

Taverham Band is delighted to have been approved by Broadland Council as a good cause for the newly-launched Community at Heart Lottery. As we have now wound up our old 100 club, this is an ideal replacement opportunity for our supporters.

You will have a 1 in 50 chance of winning a prize of up to £25,000 for a £1 weekly stake, whilst helping the Band out – especially during these difficult times when performance income is zero and outgoings such as insurance continue to be payable. 50p from every £1 ticket sold is paid directly to the Band.

The Community at Heart Lottery is managed and administered by Broadland District Council.

For full details, and to buy tickets, please visit our lottery page at:

The first draw is 27th February 2021 but tickets are on sale now – good luck to all of our supporters!
